"Yes!" for kids

The Child Victim's Act, which was authored by State Senator Karen Peterson, would eliminate the civil statute of limitations for sexual abuse of children. It would give child victims of unspeakable sexual trauma the chance to speak up in a way that they were previously unable to. Current Delaware law only gives victims of child sexual abuse two years from the date of abuse to use the courts for a civil remedy. Under the proposed legislation, victims would be able to sue both the perpetrators and organizations that are found negligent in their responsibility to protect children from sexual abuse. Perpetrators and any organization that puts children at risk would be held responsible for civil damages.

"Now who could be against that?"
The two-year civil window protects children. Many sexual predators have never faced consequences for the crimes they committed because the current law shields them from criminal prosecution and civil action. Children are exposed to dangerous child predators at this moment and ongoing.
